New Beginnings

Caleb,
I am starting this journal in hopes that one day we will have it bound into a nice book full of memories and experiences from your childhood.
Although this is my first journal entry for you, you will be five years old in just 5 months. Up until this time I have not kept any journals for you. The reason for that is that your Dad has been an amazing journal keeper for all our boys.  From the time we knew we were going to have you, your Dad kept amazing notes and journals all about you.  Unfortunately about a month ago the file on the computer, where he kept all of his personal writings, became corrupt.  We don't know why but the file is no longer able to open.  We have taken it to several computer specialists but no one has been about to open it.  Although it appears to be lost, we have hopes that once we are back in America we will be able to find someone who can recover all those special memories and journals for us.
Your Dad lost all of his files on the computer and while he had a lot of important information on there, he mentioned to me that the journals are the only thing that he really cares about. He spent countless hours recording so many thoughts, memories, and feelings for you.  All so that you could have them one day.  He (and I) love you so much and I pray that someday we will find someone who is able to restore all those writings for you.
When I told Grandma Poulson about the lost journal files she said "The angles in Heaven have recorded everything Keith has written, one day you will have them again."
I know that what Grandma said is true.  Your Dad was following the Prophets counsel as he kept records and journals for posterity. One day the blessings of having those writings will be received.
Dad is discouraged with all the journals he has lost (He also lost his mission journals...when he was preparing to come home from his mission he shipped a bunch of boxes back home, unfortunately the box full of his mission journals (6 full journals) was lost in the mail.) So now after losing another huge file of journals he has decided it is my turn to keep records for a while. I am no where near as good of a writer as he.  I also find myself going long periods of time without recording memories, so I hope that I can fill your Dad's shoes as I take over the journal writing.
We love you Caleb Soren.  Your personality cracks me up.  You are so smart its almost scary.  You follow right along with Packer and are learning things most 6 year olds don't even know...and you are 4.  With your great personality, how smart you already are, and that handsome little face, you will one day rule the world little buddy.
